2019 Strawberry Patch Grenache Rose ***SOLD OUT***

2019 Rose bottle.jpg

Another great vintage of the Strawberry Patch Grenache Rose in a salmon pink colour.

It has a lifted nose of strawberry, followed by hints of white cherry, raspberry and potpourri.

The bright palate consists of strawberry, pomegranate and cranberry fruit. The finish is crisp and dry.

Fruit for this wine is 100% from our Wistmosa vineyard in the Tatachilla region of McLaren Vale. The vines were planted in 1996/1998; the soil in the region is classified as Pirramimma Sandstone. The fruit was handpicked into 1 tonne bins. Free run juice and light pressings were cold fermented to produce this wine.

The wine was bottled in July 2019.

2015 Shiraz

2015 Shiraz bottle.jpg

With a crimson colour and rich and fruit driven nose of dark berries, spice, cedar and violet, this wine is all blueberries and plum on the palate with a long, mouth filling dark chocolate finish. It is all about the fruit but is well balanced by three years maturation in French oak.

Fruit for this wine is 100% from our Wistmosa vineyard in the Tatachilla region of McLaren Vale. The vines were planted in 1996/1998; the soil in the region is classified as Pirramimma Sandstone but this particular block is a heavy red loam over broken sandstone.

The vines are hand pruned and the fruit was picked into 1 tonne bins before being transported to the winery.

At the winery the focus is to deliver clean and intact fruit to the open top fermenters. Approximately 25% whole bunch fruit was used in the fermentation. Skin contact was managed by twice daily hand plunging and pump overs.

The wine was bag pressed, returned to barrel to pass through malolactic fermentation.

The wine was taken out of barrel and bottled in July 2018.

The wine spent 36 months in two lots of second use French (Gillet and Boutes) oak hogsheads.

The palate is rich and dark consisting of blueberry, plums and hints of raspberry, chocolate and spice. The finish is bright and cleansing.

Grenache and Shiraz fruit for this wine came from our vineyard located on California Road. The vines are 20 years old and are planted in the gently undulating red/grey sandy loam soils – a combination of the Pirramimma Sandstone (Yellow & buff sandstone, pebbly sandstone, clay) and Ngaltinga Formation (grey & red mottled alluvial clay; commonly capped with calcrete) soils. Vines are hand pruned.
